The agency held a seminar conducted by the President of IREG-International Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence, Professor Ian Sadlak (France)

On October 5th, 2015 the agency held a seminar on the topic "Overview of the major international trends in higher education with a focus on the European region, and its compliance with the political challenges, and the role of the quality assessment".

The presentation was made by Professor Ian Sadlak, President of IREG - International Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence, ex-director of the European Centre for Higher Education at UNESCO-CEPES, as well as a prominent expert in the field of management and economics of higher education.

In his report, Professor Ian Sadlak presented modern trends of higher education development and their impact on the functioning of higher education institutions, a strategy for improving European higher education area, the issues of the assessment of educational quality, accreditation, benchmarking and academic rankings.

The seminar was attended by the Deputy of Majilis Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor V.Bishimbaev; by members of the Accreditation Council of the agency: Professor, Doctor of Law, S.Udartsev; chairman of the Committee on the social sphere and social partnership at Research and Production Enterprise in Kazakhstan, Doctor of Economics, professor T.Doskenov; by the Appeals Committee of the Agency: Professor, Doctor of Law, Sh.Tlepina, K.Zhirenchin, CEO of the Higher School of Education at Nazarbayev University, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor A.Sagintaeva; by the Accreditation Committee chairmen: Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Director of the department at Nazarbayev University, N.Hamzina; professor, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, A.Moldazhanova; and by representatives of higher education institutions of Astana, experts and Agency staff.

In her welcoming speech, Professor Sh. Kalanova, the President of IQAA, noted the importance of the report, due to the fact that the Agency analyses, distributes and applies in its practice the European experience of quality assurance among Kazakhstani higher education institutions.
