The Chairman of the Committee on social and cultural development and science of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ms B. Aitimova performed an opening speech at the event. The Deputy stressed that the new bill "On the status of the teacher", which was developed on behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Literally, the new bill is discussed by all stakeholders and is the main law concerned the interests of everyone.
The Minister of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Y. Sagadiev made the main report on the results of the Ministry of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2018 and the upcoming tasks for 2019. The Minister noted the innovations in the system of professional development of teachers and the current situation of the bill "On the status of the teacher " and other issues.
The Minister highlighted issues related to technical and vocational education. He noted that the work on the transition to international standards of WorldSkills is continuing, the possibility of increasing the hours of practical training for students by reducing the hours of the cycle of General subjects is being discussed. He also spoke about the implementation of the program "Zhas Maman" ("Young specialist"), developed under the instuction of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan., given to them at the opening meeting "The Year of Youth" on January 23, 2019.
In the field of higher education, the Minister focused on the current results of the academic freedom expansion in HEIs. He also noted the plans to cancel the procedure of External evaluation of educational achievements since 2020.
The Minister highlighted the need to teach English to scientists, plans to increase the number of grants for young scientists by 3 billion tenge, the reform of National scientific councils and the possibility of media coverage of the grant distribution process among the important issues of the development of Kazakhstan science.
Also, the heads of educational organizations and JSC "Financial center" made presentations in the plenary part of the Board.
