On September 27, 2017 the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Atameken" with IQAA conducted a seminar on the topic "Ratings as an effective tool for assessing the quality of HEIs". The seminar was attended by President of the Independent Kazakhstan Agency for Quality Assurance in Education, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Sh.M. Kalanova, Deputy Chairman of the Board of NCE RK "Atameken" E.T. Zhumagaziyev, Chairman of the Committee of social sphere and social partnership of NCE RK "Atameken" T.K.Doskenov, Director of the Department of Development of Human Capital O. Ordabayev and other staff of NCE RK "Atameken", Adviser of Chairman of the Board of the Non-commercial Joint Stock Company "Holding "Kasipkor", Doctor of Economics, Professor G.N. Gamarnik, Rector of Karaganda State Industrial University, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor B.A. Zhautikov, Directors of IQAA Departments.
The moderator of the seminar was the Chairman of the Committee of social sphere and social partnership of NCE RK "Atameken" T.K. Doskenov.
The key speech was delivered by the President of IQAA, Professor Sh.M. Kalanova. The history of the first independent national rating of universities in Kazakhstan, the Berlin Principles, the achievements of IQAA were reported. The speaker detailed the methodology of the ratings and the criterion for assessing the quality of HEIs. Summarizing her report, Professor Sh.M.Kalanova suggested associations of employers to establish close cooperation in the areas of educational programs for joint assessment and award on the ratings.
Rector of Karaganda State Industrial University, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor B.A. Zhautikov in his report detailed about the regional universities problems face today in the issue of competition with large universities.
Also at the seminar, Professor G.N. Gamarnik paid attention to the importance of the development of vocational education, working specialties, the role of Non-commercial Joint Stock Company "Holding "Kasipkor" in the development of the rating.
The moderator of the seminar, T.Doskenov said, that participants of the seminar - the directors of the departments of NCE RK "Atameken" should take an active part in the processes of the rating evaluation, made a number of interesting proposals, in particular, to make separately rating of state and private universities.
