Dear colleagues!

13092013

We are happy to inform you about posting on the IQAA website of the regular issue of the journal "International education" – №73, dated 2013, which is being published by the Center for International Higher Education (CIHE) of Boston College (USA) under the guidance of the internationally recognized scholar, Professor Philip Altbach.

The current issue of the article in the section "Internatinal employment of students" is dedicated to the problems connected to the mobility of students, which has already gained the worldwide nature and is turning into business. The motivation of countries and universities, which enroll foreign students, is now determined by the commercial considerations, and authors of the articles are concerned with massive appearance of so called agencies and recruiters, who work for concrete universities.

Philip Altbach, Director of the Center for International Higher Education of Boston College, and Liz Reisberg, President of the Reisberg Associates, suggest in their article a general way of solving this problem.

The section "International issues"  includes the article of Gerard A. Postiglione, Professor of Pedagogy and Director of Wah Ching Centre of Research on Education in China, and Philip Altbach. The authors justify their points of view in accordance with which the key figures in the strategy for internationalization of any higher education institution can be professors and teachers around the world, who express less interest in the international cooperation than it is expected.

In the section "Africa in focus", they analyze the reforms of administration in the sector of higher education of this continent.

The section "Private higher education"  is presented by the article of Joanna Maziel Sadilek dedicated to the issues of the leading private universities of Poland in the face of the demographic decrease.

In the section "Countries and regions", we recommend you to pay a special attention to the article written by Tatyana Kastuyeva-Zhan "New missions and ambitions of Russian universities".

The last column - "New publications" - contains an annotated list of books in the sphere of education.
