On April 7-9, 2014 in Astana in framework of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme on "Supporting Education Policies in Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education in Kazakhstan", the school-liceum № 60 hosted the international seminar "Education for Democratic Citizenship". From the side of Kazakhstan, one of the organizers of the event was the Independent Kazakh Agency for Quality Assurance in Education.
In course of the seminar, the European experts made recommendations to Kazakhstani teachers regarding teaching methods and techniques of how to educate democratic citizenship in the field of human rights. The programme was aimed at fostering comprehension of European standards in the field of human rights by Kazakhstani students.
The European experts highlighted the importance of understanding intercultural relations, dissemination of democratic values and skills among students in order to educate them as responsible citizens. The following seminars and conferences in framework of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme in Kazakhstan are planned on June 25-26 in Karaganda.
