Michael Rutherford
Michael Rutherford has a BS degree in Chemistry from Delaware Valley College, Doylestown, PA, and an MS degree in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY. Over the last 17 years at Eli Lilly and Company, Mike has held numerous technical and administrative roles within the quality organization, including the Quality Control Laboratories and Corporate Quality Assurance. He has utilized his broad technical expertise to support and influence a variety of global projects and compliance initiatives. Mike is recognized globally as an ER/ES technical expert, helping Lilly define their interpretation, application, and compliance with 21 CFR Part 11. He is also recognized internationally as a technical expert and consultant in laboratory automation and has been directly responsible for the selection, conceptualization, development, and validation of numerous robotic and flexible workstations throughout Lilly. Mike recently served as the Global Quality System Manager for Computer Systems, responsible for assuring that regulatory and internal quality standards are defined, communicated, and appropriately implemented world wide for GMP computer systems. In his current role as Manager – Equipment, Automation, and Lab Informatics, Mike is responsible for providing strategic leadership over global laboratory informatics solutions and working with the IT leadership to ensure appropriate IT tools are implemented in quality laboratory operations worldwide. He is a member of the GAMP America Steering Committee.
