Work History:

1954 -57: General Electric Co., Medical Equipment Division, Milwaukee, WI

Factory management training program. Learned job shop systems and procedures leading to the design and implementation of a punched card job shop, workflow and inventory system.

1957-60: IBM, Data Processing Division, Milwaukee Branch Office, Systems Analyst

Learned IBM 650 programming; installed IBM computers at several major manufacturing firms.

1960-63:  IBM, Data Processing Division, Milwaukee Branch Office, DP Sales

Activity was focused on heavy manufacturing, distribution and grey iron foundries.

1963-64: MiddleWest Utilities Co. Chicago, Ill. IT Management consultant

Specializing in computer consulting to electric utility companies. The majority of time was spent in Buenos Aires, Argentina, working at SEGBA, the largest electric utility company south of the equator, designing and installing computer systems.

1965-68: Merchant’s National Bank, Indianapolis, IN  Customer Data Services.

Started as Manager, then Assistant VP, then Vice President. Formed and built the data services department for this mid-sized national bank, offering payroll services, community bank data processing (demand deposit and savings accounting, etc.)

1966: formed International Computer Programs, Inc. as a part-time activity to publish a directory of available/saleable computer programs.

1968-96: Left Merchant’s Bank to manage ICP as a full time activity.

Joined AISC (Association of Independent Software Companies), the first computer software trade association.

Also joined ADAPSO recognizing that their members were both potential content providers and subscribers to any ICP publications.

Started conducting one and two day seminars on ‘How to Buy and Sell Computer Programs’ in ’69.

In 1970, brought 25 software companies into ADAPSO as a new ‘Section’ of membership.

Published the first magazine devoted only to computer software in 1971. Brought out five more magazines in ’75, each targeted to a specific industry audience.

Continued to modify both the ICP Software Directory and the magazines to reflect the emergence of time-share systems, mini computers and then micro computers.

1997-present: Became a self-employed sales and marketing consultant catering to firms in the IT industry.

2001: authored a book: “The End Of Selling… As We Know It”

2002: Formed iBusiness Press, Inc. to publish business books using the Internet, electronic publishing, Print-On-Demand and non-traditional distribution channels

ADAPSO activities:
Served as President of the new Software Section for two terms
Served as Board Member of the Software Section for 20 years.
Served as ADAPSO Board member for 20 years.
Worked on the Contracts Committee for three years.
Served as Program Chairman from 1984 through 1988.
Elected Vice Chair for 1989.
Elected Chainperson for 1990.
Member of a President’s Roundtable from 1978 to ’92.

Additionally, was instrumental in forming CRITA (Council of Regional Information Technology Associations), and in 1990, the Indiana Software Association.
